Everything about turbocompressors
We know turbocompressors not just from datasheets, but from daily operation. Whether you're planning a new system, modernizing an existing one, or troubleshooting – with over 50 years of field experience, we offer manufacturer-independent support that is practical, comprehensible, and permanently effective.
Operating turbocompressors safely, stably, and efficiently
"A smoothly running turbocompressor is loud and boring," says Karl Morgenbesser, a long-standing experienced commissioning engineer, troubleshooter, founder, and managing director of kmo turbo GmbH. Every plant operator, in turn, has a keen interest in ensuring that their machines remain as "boring" as possible.
Things are anything but boring when a turbocompressor "surges" unintentionally: cyclic backflow of the compressed medium can lead to high vibrations, pressure surges, rapid temperature increases, and massive damage in the compressor. The failure of the flow can have a fatal impact on the downstream process.

Surge Protection and Surge Prevention
kmo turbo, a specialist in compressor controls with decades of experience from Friedrichshafen, the "Zeppelin City" on Lake Constance, has made it its mission to ensure uncompromisingly reliable operation of turbocompressors.
This is achieved, on the one hand, with the transparent and intuitively configurable kmo surge prevention control system, possibly in conjunction with a kmo process control system. This not only maintains stable operation but also maximizes the usable range of the compressor map.
The highest level of protection is offered by the three-stage system, thanks to diversely redundant surge detection and monitoring of up to four transmitter signals with surge-typical signal behavior. kmo surge protection control system (anti-surge protection). This exceeds the requirements of API 670.
Users of the compressor control systems from kmo turbo , which are based on commercially available Siemens hardware (Simatic S7-1200/-1500), appreciate the outstanding diagnostic functions for fault analysis as well as the easy integration (Profibus, Modbus-TCP, ...) into higher-level control systems. The web-based user interface requires no software installation; parameterization, visualization, and commissioning can be performed via any network-enabled device (e.g., PC, smartphone, ...).

Turbocompressor Audit
The safety, availability, and economic efficiency of an entire plant depend on pump monitoring. Since a variety of disruptive influences can occur over time, a recurring review of parameter settings is recommended as an integral part of the maintenance philosophy.
kmo turbo offers operators of turbocompressors the auditing of already installed pump monitoring systems of all types. This new service offering aims to create transparency and increase production reliability. At the end of the assessment, customers receive concrete recommendations for necessary upgrades and meaningful optimization. The recommendations aim for stable, trouble-free operation, reliable compressor protection, and optimal utilization of the compressor map.

Code of Best Practice
Furthermore, kmo turbo possesses the technical expertise and practical experience to develop a well-founded corporate guideline for the safe, stable, and efficient operation of turbocompressors together with the operator, which is particularly beneficial for companies with a group structure.
